In addition to bachelor&#8217;s and master&#8217;s degree programs with a sole focus on science, we also offer a complete teacher education program (Bachelor\/Master of Education) in the subjects of physics, mathematics, and computer science.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-big-font-size\">Thanks to the close proximity of subjects and institutes at our faculty, interdisciplinary study programs have emerged alongside the classical subjects. It focuses on how data can be represented, stored, transmitted, and evaluated. Its historically strong connection to mathematics and the natural sciences offers interested students significantly deeper methodological insights than many conventional degree programs: state-of-the-art methods from computer science have always been necessary for finding new events in the data of colliding elementary particles at CERN or to detect patterns for diseases in DNA sequences. How does climate change affect the Earth's system as a whole? How do we deal with the impact of climate and environmental change, and what are the solutions? These are the questions addressed in the subject of environmental sciences, which at JGU strongly focuses on the natural science foundations of weather and climate.    <\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p class=\"has-big-font-size\">At the center are the physical processes that make life on Earth possible in the first place. Environmental sciences at the <strong>Institute for Physics of the Atmosphere<\/strong> form an intersection with meteorology, particularly in the area of mathematical-physical foundations, but their focus is more on application-oriented content than on theoretical depth. Students gain early experience in practical projects and learn how to handle modern measuring instruments. Computer-aided analyses and statistical evaluations are integral parts of the program of study from the outset, and, last but not least, competence in scientifically sound communication is also part of the program and teaches students how to convey complex issues in an understandable way.   <\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p class=\"has-big-font-size\">The environmental sciences are increasing in relevance in light of the growing challenges in the context of climate change and its impacts on the Earth's system.
