The faculty is committed to creating a collegial, cooperative, and constructive atmosphere in which the equality of all members and students is paramount. We attach great importance to ensuring that the faculty’s culture of conduct does not discriminate on the basis gender, religion, skin color, origin, or sexual orientation. Equality tasks and challenges therefore concern all members of our faculty. A central component is the promotion of women, especially in the scientific field and in leadership roles.
Dr. Elke Göbel and Dr. Rainer Göbel have been closely associated with Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz as alumni for many years and support numerous university projects and institutions. Many important facets of their foundations are directed towards our faculty and are therefore close to the scientific discipline of the founding couple themselves.
The Dres. Elke and Rainer Göbel Foundation contributes to the promotion of primarily international students in Physics and to strengthening the connection of the graduates of the entire faculty with JGU.
With the Dres. Göbel Klima-Stiftung, the founding couple Dr. Elke Göbel and Dr. Rainer Göbel would like to particularly promote climate research at JGU, including providing funding for young scientists in this field.
With the award for outstanding scientists in early career phases, JGU honors excellent dissertations and artistic final projects.
